Matt Salyer

Founder & CEO

A lifelong athlete with a passion for fitness, Matt discovered Pilates after a serious surf injury while living in Hawaii—and it completely changed his life. He quickly fell in love with the method and began teacher training soon after.

With a background in personal training and weightlifting dating back to high school, Matt brings years of experience to both the Pilates studio and the gym. His Pilates classes are deeply focused on core and spine strength, precision, and control—perfect for building a strong, resilient body from the inside out.

Matt is also our lead personal trainer in our gym facility, working one-on-one or in small groups to help clients get stronger week after week. He emphasizes excellent form, progressive strength, balance, and cardio, ensuring every session is safe, effective, and tailored to your goals. Most importantly, Matt makes workouts fun, motivating, and something you actually look forward to—not just another chore.

If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, supportive, and energetic trainer who truly cares about your progress, come try a session with Matt—whether in our Pilates studio or Personal training gym.

Amanda Salyer

Founder & CEO

Amanda, a true entrepreneur at heart. She has always had different business ideas in the works ever since being a little kid, some more successful than others. It started already at 6 years of age, when she was setting up dance shows that she sold tickets to in the whole neighborhood. Right before opening up Core Pilates Fitness and Nutrition together with her husband Matt, she started Amanda’s Health Bag, a meal delivery service that used ingredients from the local farms on the north shore of Oahu where she lived at the moment.

She’s originally from Sweden. Growing up she spent most of her time in the dance studio trying to pursue a career as a professional dancer. Throughout the years she developed more and more foot issues which also started to cause knee and hip pain. When coming across reformer Pilates, years later, she was sold very quickly as she noticed how good it felt for the body and how her issues slowly got better and better. 2017 she became a certified Pilates instructor together with her husband and started working at a Physical Therapy and Pilates Studio in Hawaii. She also studied to become a certified nutritionist as she’s always been interested in food as a way to heal the body from within. In 2019 Amanda and her husband Matt decided to move to California and open up their own Pilates company. A dream come true for Amanda who was now able to combine her love for running a business as well as sharing her passion for the Pilates practice with others.

Melissa Pruden

Pilates Instructor

I have been teaching Pilates since 2016 and am also a 500 hour certified yoga teacher and barre instructor trained in the Dailey Method. I have a degree in International Communications and spent 12 years at Intel as an IT Business Analyst. I have done gymnastics, soccer, half-marathons, and triathlons but I have come to love the mindful movement of Pilates and yoga. My training is through Pilates Sports Center with continuing education through Balanced Body. I enjoy blending classical and contemporary Pilates repertoire and my classes will help you move and feel better. When not in the studio, I am out having fun around Folsom with my husband, two daughters, and giant sheepadoodle!

Joanie Martin

Pilates Instructor

Joanie grew up in Washington and was an avid water and snow skier so movement was always a part of her life.  In college, she had amazing mentors in fitness who encouraged her to get certified and she has never looked back.  It has been a gift for her and her husband to raise their two kids in an active and healthy environment.

She has been teaching pilates reformer for 9 years and has been a professional in the fitness industry for 27 years.  Her comprehensive background also includes teaching yoga, aerial yoga, personal training, mat pilates, TRX, and aquatics.

One of the most rewarding things about her job is watching students start to move better by eliminating pain, strengthening weaknesses and improving overall performance.  She worked with injured patients in a Functional Restoration Center as the mind-body director as well as working in recreational therapy in a Skilled Nursing Unit.  From this experience, she witnessed amazing transformation in the mind and body.  She looks forward to sharing her passion for health and fitness with you to achieve your specific goals.

Shelby Peters_edited.jpg

Shelby Peters

Pilates Instructor

Shelby’s journey with fitness started early at age 4 when she begged her mom to join a competitive swimming team. Growing up as an athlete led her to develop a deep appreciation for body awareness and the importance of injury prevention. After a 15 year aquatic career, she explored a variety of fitness modalities, seeking forms of exercise that felt empowering rather than punishing.  In 2013, Shelby was introduced to mat Pilates by a life-changing personal trainer. She began to fall in love with the functional strength, balance, and clarity Pilates offered—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. 10 years later, Shelby left her HR tech job to complete her comprehensive Pilates certification with Mighty Pilates in the San Francisco Bay Area to pursue teaching full time.

Shelby’s teaching style is calm, attentive, and welcoming.  She places a strong emphasis on injury prevention, body awareness, long-term mobility, and joy! Whether working with beginners, experts, athletes, or clients recovering from injury, Shelby believes in tailoring sessions to meet individuals where they’re at and building confident strength from the inside out. She believes movement should feel accessible, empowering, and - most importantly - fun.

Outside the studio, you’ll most likely find Shelby with her husband and pup Milo at the lake, making pottery, thrifting, or enjoying live music.

Rochelle Waters

Pilates Instructor

Rochelle Walter is a Pilates reformer instructor with over 19 years of experience. She discovered the transformative power of Pilates through her own recovery from a neck injury (doing a back flip off the trampoline) that wasn’t healing from physical therapy or traditional strength training methods. What began as rehabilitation became a passion for mindful movement, core strength, and functional alignment.

Rochelle has always enjoyed fitness, she has been a runner and swimmer from a young age and still competes competitively in triathlons and running races. Rochelle also has a degree in exercise physiology with an emphasis on athletic performance and nutrition.

When Rochelle is not working she is running around with her 3 kiddos and husband.

Rebecca Dillman

Personal Trainer

Hi, I’m Becca, and movement has been the foundation of my life for as long as I can remember. I was raised inside my dad’s martial arts studio from the age of five, where discipline, strength, and intentional movement were a way of life. Those early experiences shaped my physical strength, focus, resilience, and deep respect for mindful, well-executed movement.

Over a decade ago, I competed in an NPC bikini bodybuilding competition, building a strong foundation in strength training, nutrition, and exercise science. After that, I began working as a personal trainer with clients in my family’s gym, gaining hands-on experiencing and discovering my passion for coaching—helping others build confidence, strength, and long-term results through personalized training.

As a personal trainer, my focus is on smart programming, functional strength, and sustainable progress. I believe in meeting clients where they are and helping them move better, feel stronger, and build consistency in a way that supports their lifestyle and goals.

In recent years, my own training expanded into Bikram Yoga, which challenged me in a new way and deepened my understanding of the mind-body connection. That passion led me to become a certified Bikram instructor, allowing me to integrate mobility, discipline, and recovery into the way I train and coach.

Fitness is more than my profession—it’s a calling, deeply rooted in who I am, and something I’m grateful to share every day.
